Outcome:

While just over 20% of this century is over as of 2023, there has been no trend in hurricanes to date. In fact, not long after Emanuel’s prediction, the US broke the record for the longest Hurricane Drought in US history. The drought finally ended with Hurricane Irma in 2017, and the 2025 season finished without a single US landfalling hurricane.
